Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology)

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in Orlando, FL. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteriaClassical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysisGenerate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as neededPerform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manualAdministrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phonesOther responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Life Science is required, preferably in Biology or Microbiology Minimum 1 year work experience Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plusExperience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, other culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, or mycology is a plusAbility to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysisAbility to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance Available Shift:Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Orlando, FL are encouraged to applyEMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending account.
