Position Summary:

Reporting into the Project Director overseeing the CMS Battelle- Quality Measurement work, the Senior Project Research Associate executes appropriate health research and analytical methods designed to evaluate the development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical quality measures.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Leads and participates in multiple assigned projects with minimum supervision and within time and budget constraints

Participates in the evaluation of clinical quality measures focused on a wide range of clinical areas

Develops presentations and reports on advancements in clinical quality measure science

Performs highly complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, prepares technical specifications, analyzes qualitative and quantitative data to produce high-profile reports

Manages stakeholder relationships through collaboration and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to communicate project data, status, and technical needs and address risk, issues, and opportunities

Reviews scientific literature and various information sources, prepares summaries

Prepares technical reports and presentations that are clear, concise, and technically accurate

Builds relationships with internal and external partners and clients and supports business development efforts

Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional attention to detail and professionalism

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to various audiences, including simplifying highly technical and nuanced healthcare data for diverse audiences

Strong ability to maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of operational users, technical developers and government program managers

Proven ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team

Understanding of practical application of:

Appropriate experimental and quasi-experimental research methodologies

Policy analysis

Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods evaluation designs

Outcome, dissemination, and implementation science

Ability to distill themes, recommendations, and patterns from complex meeting discussions, qualitative research, and literature

Strong command of language for drafting briefs, reports, and presentation materials tailored to diverse stakeholders

Skilled at real-time notetaking, summarizing discussions accurately, and capturing key takeaways

Highly skilled in recognizing broader implications of findings and contributing to the strategic direction of the project

Position Qualifications:

Required

Bachelor's degree or higher in health administration, health informatics, public health, other health-related relevant field

6-7 years of professional experience in clinical quality measure development

Experience working with and/or developing healthcare quality measures

Experience working with:

Contract research for a federal, state or private entity

One or more of the following federal agencies: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Department of Veterans Affairs, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Defense Health Agency

Preferred

Knowledge and experience in research involving health policy, health disparities, international health, health economics or health data sources such as electronic health records are also desirable

Excellent word processing and computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat Professional

Physical Attributes:

Ability to Sit for Extended Periods: Capability to work at a desk for long durations

Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using a computer, including typing, mouse handling, and other office equipment

Visual Acuity: Ability to read and view a computer screen for extended periods

Hearing and Speaking: Clear communication over phone and video calls

Environment Setup: Access to a quiet, professional home office setup conducive to focused work and virtual meetings

Lifting: Occasionally requires lifting up to 25 lbs as needed
