The Opportunity

This position is responsible for initiating, directing and executing scientific research, development and manufacturing process strategies to support new and existing products. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems. Plans and executes laboratory research. Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories. Makes contributions to scientific literature and conferences. Serves as an in-house and outside consultant. May act as a spokesperson for corporate scientific affairs and advise top management. Participates in development of patent applications. Promotes and participates in the professional development of scientists and laboratory facilities. Uses professional concepts to contribute to the development of product or process principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development activities for products, methods, and/or processes to meet defined project scopes and goals.

  • Actively contribute to defining new components, products, or processes, and troubleshoot technical challenges.

  • Collaborate with senior scientists, management, or project leaders for guidance and project alignment.

  • Design and execute experiments, including planning experimental strategies and utilizing Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies when appropriate.

  • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and form actionable conclusions to improve processes or documentation.

  • Develop potentially patentable components, systems, reagents, or methodologies for innovative solutions.

  • Participate in cross-functional technical teams, contributing scientific expertise and fostering collaboration.

  • Share knowledge and skills with team members and drive continuous improvements in workflows and processes.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports and deliver engaging presentations on project progress and outcomes to internal or external groups.

  • Ensure all work aligns with quality standards by monitoring progress and promoting a Quality First Time culture.

Who you are:

  • Ph.D. in Science

  • 3 years relevant experience with a Masters Degree

  • 8 years relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree

  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.

  • Strong understanding of scientific principles and concepts.

  • Applies advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is $81,100 - $150,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
