About the Opportunity
This is an open position at Fort Martin Power Station with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]
This position will be located at the Fort Martin Power Station in Maidsville, WV.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the condition of the generation equipment while providing both operational and maintenance support in order to operate the station in compliance with all environmental regulations with emphasis on air and water quality requirements.
- Analyzing and resolving operating and maintenance issues when related to environmental compliance, specifically air and water quality control.
- Investigating, recommending and implementing improvements and/or modifications to increase efficiency, safety or reliability of generation equipment and/or reduce operation and maintenance (O&M) and environmental costs.
- Preparing engineering design, economic justification, construction estimates, budgets, schedules and forecasts.
- Qualifying bidders, preparing bidding documents, and evaluating proposals of outside firms regarding environmental compliance.
- Providing expert advice and technical support on existing assets and on new assets being considered for purchase.
- Keeping abreast of new technology for power generation cost reductions, efficiency improvements and environmental control.
- Coordinating environmental tests, documentation and reporting
- Coordinating emergency action responses and following up with station and company personnel and local, state and Federal agencies to expediently handle issues related to laws, permits and air and water quality environmental obligations.
- Conducting research; analyzing data, meeting customer needs; developing alternatives and recommendations; contributing to solutions; developing credibility, skills knowledge and maturity.
- Provide strategic direction in compliance and operation of the treatment systems.
- Facilitate high-level solutions
- Manage diverse projects/processes/programs
Qualifications include:
- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent discipline from an ABET accredited college or university OR equivalent relative experience
- Equivalent relative experience must be a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a leadership/individual contributor role in the operation, maintenance, or support of a generation station or similar facility. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on experience, your work history/experience will be required as part of your application.
- Relative experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word. SAP a plus In-depth understanding of pertinent technical products and/or services and of customer needs and expectations
- Demonstrate a questioning attitude to continue to learn, produce results, and strengthen existing relationships
- Possess a sound knowledge of various research techniques
- Desire to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results
- Advance-level analytical and technical abilities
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels of FirstEnergy Corp.
- Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make formal technical presentations to various management level
