Job Description
The Translational Imaging Biomarkers group within Translational Medicine is seeking applicants for a Senior Scientist position, In Vivo Imaging, available at our South San Francisco, California research facility. The successful candidate will lead efforts to implement and validate novel imaging methods in in vivo animal models of human diseases across multiple imaging platforms (e.g. optical, CT, MRI, ultrasound, photoacoustic). Your work will enable drug discovery teams to interrogate a wide range of disease biology and develop novel biomarkers to inform clinical trial design. You will be also a part of the Translational Medicine department working to bring key molecules from discovery to phase 2 clinical trials.
Primary Responsibilities:
Discover and development of novel in vivo imaging-based biomarkers to support drug discovery and development
Coordinate and execute in vivo imaging studies to meet drug discovery program timelines
Support the development and validation of novel imaging biomarkers in animal models of human diseases
Collaborate with Cardio-metabolic, oncology, neuroscience, formulations, and other functional groups, as well as external academic research institutes or CROs
Perform accurate record-keeping for electronic notebooks, equipment logs and research reports, along with maintaining laboratory equipment used for imaging experiments
Present research results to internal and external colleagues, including writing of manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals and giving talks at scientific conferences
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's (with 7+ years), Master' (with 4+ years) or Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, or related field and relevant experience listed below
Required Experience and Skills:
Strong background and hands-on experience in more than one in vivo imaging modality (e.g. Ultrasound, Optical, CT, and/or MRI)
Deep experience with image analysis methods using existing commercial software
Experience with rodent handling required for imaging studies
Ability to independently plan, design, and execute pre-clinical imaging experiments using molecular imaging probes or contrast agents
Work in a team environment with cross-functional interactions
Deliver objectives under strict timelines in a rapidly changing environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated creativity, and strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated scientific ability through publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations in scientific conferences
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience in small animal dosing and tissue collection
Experience writing customized image analysis scripts
Experience in image analytics using AI/ML methods
Familiarity with electronic laboratory notebook applications and good documentation practices
Prior work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry

The salary range for this role is
$128,800.00 - $202,700.00This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employees position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
