Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a Therapeutic Editing Associate Scientist to join our team in Boston, MA.
Come join the rapidly expanding Gene Therapy team at Eli Lilly! We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome editing reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene editing to patients around the world.
Job Responsibilities:- Collaborate with team members to engineer next-generation gene editors with enhanced activity and improved safety profiles.
- Support the design, engineering, and optimization of novel nucleases using techniques such as site-directed mutagenesis, structure-guided design, and directed evolution.
- Develop and implement new assays to measure editing efficiency of gene editors (e.g., CRISPR) in vitro, in cell-free systems, and in bacterial models.
- Work cross-functionally to deliver data to the project team within the expected timelines.
- Maintain detailed documentation of scientific work in an electronic notebook.
- Bachelors and/or Masters degree in biology or a closely related scientific field with 3+ years of relevant laboratory work experience.
- Extensive experience with bacterial screening systems and aseptic cell culture techniques, including hands-on execution of CRISPR-based gene editing experiments.
- Prior experience in Nuclease engineering within an industrial or biotech setting, contributing to the development of gene editing therapies.
- Expertise in protein engineering, including structure-guided and rational design approaches, as well as experience with bacterial or yeast-based directed evolution systems.
- Proficient in molecular biology workflows such as bacterial transformation, transfection, PCR, ddPCR, restriction digestion, Gibson assembly and other molecular cloning workflow.
- Experience with large cargo editor and Cas-fusion proteins, as well as a desire to learn to apply new and emerging technologies
- Experience planning and executing experiments independently
- Familiarity with primer design, sequencing preparation, and analysis
- Experience using automation in workflows is a plus (i.e., liquid handling)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills
- This role may require up to 10% travel for conferences or training.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidates education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$69,000 - $179,300Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
