responsibilities:
The Chemist II will be a part of the Business and Technology Center Photochromics team and involved in the execution of experiments related to product formulation, quality control, and testing. The goal of this team is to develop new products through fundamental understanding of formulation and application. Specifically, you will work closely with formulators, chemists, and scientists to assist in the growth and development of Transitions products as well as aid in the quality control of raw materials.

  • Following standard operating procedures and industry standards for formula mixing, sample preparation, and testing
  • Precise measurement and mixing of formula ingredients described by a formulation log
  • Preparing test specimens for a variety of tests
  • Creating a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Upholding safety standards for the team, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safety guidelines
  • Documenting and reporting experimental details
  • Keen observation of experimental details and external factors
  • Time management and recognition of work efficiency
  • Independently planning and executing all aspects of an experiment following a discussion of objectives with the supervisor
  • Interpreting data and making recommendations for future work

qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in material science, chemistry or similar technical field
  • 0-1 years of laboratory experience
  • Experience with coatings formulation is desired
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to keep track of multiple project tasks

skills: GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
