Amazon is now searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented Systems Development Engineer to be a part of our global initiative of developing and delivering the next generation of world-class automation systems for grocery applications. The System Development Engineer (SysDev) will be part of a new product/technology development cycle and responsible for successful delivery of automation systems for further testing and evaluation. Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior engineering experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, including development, design, implementation, enhancement, and support. You will serve as a liaison between numerous teams including our grocery partners, IT teams, Deployment teams and our vendors helping to lead the charge for GRAS driving IT support. The majority of the responsibilities will be driving the delivery of technologies and will coordinate with other Amazon IT teams or vendors on network design, failover testing, server hardware specifications, and setup of the final solution for launch.

Act as single threaded owner for integration of vendor network solutions into internal standards
Participate in design reviews
Act as conduit between 3P vendor teams and internal stakeholders

This role builds relationships across a cross functional team and capture and synthesize the voice of the customer. Their primary goal is to collaborate on system network design and support field activities integrating, deploying, and troubleshooting solutions for new advanced technology systems; act as a liaison for internal and external resources and be on call as needed to support downtime events.

As a working leader, you are able to take the lead on the implementation and delivery of complex system designs and advanced technology in ambiguous and complex problem spaces. You integrate systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency. You participate in the full system development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and solution quality needs. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative environment. Key job responsibilities
Establish and maintain a safe work environment following all local, State and Amazon specific standards and requirements.
Perform assessments for new 3P automation technology
Support the network installation of complex cross-functional projects.
Contribute materially to network and security discussions by identifying network requirements of robotics systems and how they can be integrated into existing Amazon network VLANs, ACLs, etc.
Deep dive technical solutions that encompass advanced technology applications, robotic and automation integration, and vendor commissioning content and expectations.
Conduct design reviews and support execution efforts between internal teams and outside vendors including network architecture, equipment specifications, and site layout.
Proficiency with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making.
Operational knowledge of common enterprise switching and routing platforms.
Proficiency with TCP/IP networking, routing, Network Security architecture, and core technologies (such as IP, TCP, load balancers, firewalls, ACLs, DNS, DHCP).
Knowledge of fail over protection and design for IT infrastructure.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- 3+ years experience with the designs of complex, automated technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with distributed systems at scale

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
