JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to further prepare an individual who was recently awarded a doctorate to undertake the responsibilities of a career in research while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, as well as graduate and undergraduate students at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center, and the UMaine academic departments. Typical hiring range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Area of expertise: Thermoplastic composite materials, composite material durability, test methods for composite materials, composite materials manufacturing, experimental characterization of composites.

Qualifications:
Required:
PhD in Materials Science or Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline completed within the last 5 years.
Prior graduate coursework or research in related discipline.
Proven capability in a related research category.
An excellent record of productive and creative research as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work with and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, as well as set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines.
Currently residing in the U.S. with the ability to relocate to Maine.
