Job Description
As a Chemist 1, you will perform essential laboratory tasks in the QC Lab during the 2nd shift. Your role will involve conducting various chemical tests, ensuring quality control, and maintaining accurate documentation. This position offers the opportunity to advance within the Quality or Stability team or transition to documentation roles.
Responsibilities
- Log samples or specimens, noting date, time, and required tests.
- Prepare equipment and organize supplies and reagents.
- Prepare samples for testing through diluting, filtering, centrifuging, and digesting.
- Perform standard chemical tests and interpret results.
- Run quality control samples to verify procedures and results.
- Enter test results in logs or specification sheets and complete test result forms.
- Notify supervisor of significant test findings.
- Maintain records of quality control procedures and results.
- Perform routine calibration and minor maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Inform supervisor of inventory and supply needs.
- Stay current in the field by reading literature and attending symposiums and workshops.
- Maintain compliance with GMP operations.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science field.
- 1 year of experience with HPLC or GC (gas chromatography) from school or industry.
- 0-2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and regulations.
- Proficiency in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Strong presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from various audiences.
- Logical and scientific thinking to solve complex problems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in wet chemistry, sample preparation, titration, UV-Vis, centrifuge, calibration, lab equipment, GCMS, mass spectrometry, and FTIR.
- Ability to handle nonverbal symbolism and abstract concepts.
- Physical ability to stand, handle objects, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment
You will work in a QC Lab with 20-25 colleagues. The position requires working the 2nd shift, typically from 12-8:30pm on Monday-Wednesday and 2-10:30pm on Thursday-Friday. The role involves frequent standing and handling of lab equipment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
