Overview
The Research Associate 2 will function in a multidisciplinary team environment, coordinating the design, implementation and evaluation of research projects at the Equity Research and Innovation Center (ERIC) at Yale School of Medicine.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and senior project team, the candidate will participate in all aspects of project coordination, implementation, and reporting of results related to the Community Partnerships to Advance Science for Society (ComPASS) Health Equity Research Hub at Yale (Yale ComPASS Hub). The Yale ComPASS Hub will provide technical assistance to NIH-funded community-led health equity structural intervention sites (CHESIs).
The Research Associate II will support all activities of the Administrative Unit and Research Methods and Data Management Unit. The Administrative and Coordinating Hub Unit will drive strategic vision, programmatic leadership, and instrumental administrative and coordination support across Hub units and between the Yale ComPASS Hub and other partners and leaders in the ComPASS initiative. The Research Methods and Data Management Hub Unit will provide research design, conceptual, methodological, analytical, and data management support to CHESIs, utilizing a community-engaged and responsive research approach.
The Research Associate II will manage day to day activities for these two units. They will assist in coordination of regular meetings that include agenda preparation and meeting minute documentation, managing activities for research projects, developing study procedures and protocols, and preparing written and oral reports and presentations. The Research Associate II will communicate information and data in written and verbal form to colleagues, sponsors, senior management, government officials and the public, including the development of public materials and reports for various constituencies. The individual will work with a number of multidisciplinary research teams and ensure project goals and deliverables are met with high satisfaction.
Required Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated excellent organizational ability, attention to detail, efficiency, and critical thinking, as well as strong communication skills that include the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in written and verbal forms with internal and external contacts, faculty, leadership staff, and staff.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively. Ability to manage multiple projects and unpredictable peaks in workload in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to produce high quality work with minimal supervision and be receptive to feedback and direction in a fast-paced team environment.
Possess thorough knowledge of research methodologies and protocols.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Master's degree in a related field (e.g., public health, social sciences).
Five years of demonstrated research experience preferred.
Experience preparing IRB protocols, amendments, and progress reports.
Demonstrated experience with community partnered research preferred.
Principal Responsibilities
- Carries out research within the scope of the established study protocol. Adheres to all human subjects regulations as defined by Yale University and the federal government that pertain to research studies. 2. Develops criteria for admission of study subjects based on goals and objectives of project. 3. Determines potential sources of funding and prospective partnerships. 4. Evaluates feasibility of accepting potential projects through analysis of staffing needs, resource requirements, financial costs, and current planned capacity of group. Negotiates contracts and/or changes with funder. 5. Develops original HIC/IRB submissions. Based on knowledge of science and research goals, collaborates with PIs on major revisions and contributes to scientific protocols. Plans and implements changes. 6. Develops forms, questionnaires and the application of research techniques; writes procedures manuals for data collection and coding. 7. Responsible for the documentation and transmission of study data. Ensures that report forms are accurately documented and completed in a timely manner at each site location. 8. Works independently to develop manage and organize multi site studies. Serves as primary coordinator between University, non-Yale collaborators, pharmaceutical companies, HIC, IRB and funding sources. 9. Performs descriptive and multivariate statistical analyses of data, using computer software. 10. Designs and implements quality control measures to ensure accurate collection and processing of data. 11. Contributes in-depth, original thought and relevance to written reports and to the writing of abstracts and manuscripts. Required Education and Experience Master's Degree in a related discipline and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
