Scope of Position

We are seeking an Optical Finishing Process Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and manufacture of advanced optical systems. In this role, you will focus on creating and refining processes and procedures for the final finishing of complex optical components made of metals, plastics, and crystals. Utilizing deterministic polishing tools, you will support aerospace and defense (A&D) sensor systems by defining, developing and improving processes to finish components to meet strict specifications for figure, finish, and mid-spatial frequencies. Your work will also involve the use of advanced metrology tools, including interferometers, computer-generated holograms, and custom optical testing setups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide SME level engineering expertise and leadership for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues and process technologies within work area including generation and finishing of optics.
  • Use rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps and improvements.
  • Develop mechanical solutions and process changes to control and eliminate manufacturing issues.
  • Lead and/or support projects involving process development, capability improvement, and cost reduction in support of division engineering programs.
