Environmental Scientist I

Freese and Nichols is currently searching for an entry-level Environmental Scientist I to serve in our Charlotte , NC office. The estimated start date for this position will be June 2026 . This role will be 50% field work and 50% in office.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental assessments and watershed studies

  • Collect, adjust, and correlate data and recognize discrepancies in results

  • Become familiar with accepted criteria and methods in fluvial ecosystem restoration

  • Field data collection of geomorphic assessments, wetland delineations and groundwater monitoring

  • Assist with design aspects of stream/wetland/habitat restoration projects

  • GIS Analytics

  • Report Writing

Qualifications
  • BS degree in Environmental Science, Geoscience, Geology, Forestry, or Wildlife Biology or similar program by May 2026

  • GIS skills a plus

  • Strong communication skills and good writing skills

  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

  • A team player

  • Able to assist with additional tasks as needed
