- Perform laboratory cleaning duties, including emptying trash, wiping countertops, cleaning sinks, sweeping and mopping floors.
- Clean laboratory equipment such as scales, hoods, and refrigerators on a weekly basis.
- Review laboratory notebooks of fellow chemists promptly.
- Conduct wet chemical and instrumental analysis of blends as per established methods.
- Perform microbial plate count testing of blends when necessary.
- Review, approve, and interpret data before reporting to Quality Assurance.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks and other documentation accurately.
- Assist in creating and reviewing reformulation calculations prior to production submission.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance for paperwork, forms, and standard operating procedures creation and filing.
- Complete weekly inventory of analytical standards, solvents, pH buffers, and microbial plates, and present findings to the laboratory manager.
- Support annual preventative maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Coordinate with the supplier for service and repair of laboratory deionized water equipment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Biology or equivalent laboratory experience.
- 0-2 years of experience in routine lab and analytical operations.
- Knowledge of chemistry, HPLC, and laboratory operations.
- Ability to perform algebraic calculations and understand weights and measurements.
- GC and HPLC experience is preferred.
- Quality control experience is advantageous.
The laboratory operates with a small team, currently consisting of one other person with plans to add two more members. The flexible work hours allow you to start between 6:30 am and 7:30 am, working 8.5 hours per day, including a lunch break.
