Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing data within a Lab Information Management System (LIMS), Poultry experience, 2+ years lab experience; Bachelor of Science. Excellent communication skills are imperative. Experience interacting with clients in a healthcare or laboratory setting, including providing clear and accurate information, resolving concerns with professionalism, and maintaining a high standard of customer service.
Position Summary
This individual will serve as the data management specialist and a laboratory technical professional for the PDRC Diagnostic Lab. The position provides data management support, both clerical and scientific, to the diagnostic lab staff, PDRC personnel, and poultry industry. This individual will also be expected to perform laboratory technical professional duties: accession samples brought in by poultry clientele; perform maintenance on all automated equipment; contribute to the overall productivity of the lab personnel by managing serological/general lab supply inventory, reviewing cases, and maintaining files.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
- Ability to follow diagnostic laboratory protocols, prioritize work load between data entry and testing, and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to abruptly move from one activity or work task to another easily and effectively (workflow can be unpredictable and variable).
- Excellent communication skills and experience coordinating with people who have a diverse set of skills and come from different backgrounds.
- Familiarity with communication tools.

- Management of data entry into the current Labrak LIM system.
- Work with individual domestic and international clients as well as internal PDRC lab personnel to provide oversight of data collection and entry.
- Review cases for accurate data entry of submission information, maintenance of files, and review sales orders.
- Verify the correct testing was performed on accessioned samples. Accurate data entry is critical to be able to generate reports from the LIMS system and to be able to mine data in the system.
- Work with individual labs to establish work flows of samples.
- Work with the clinical team and section heads to provide support in a timely manner to domestic and international clients, via phone or email, with issues on current submissions and data provided.
- Review cases for accurate transcription of submission information, maintain files, and review sales orders.
- Report accurate results to clientele.
- Assemble completed lab reports and review all case types to be made into sales orders.
- Maintain a well-documented log of sample possession throughout the various diagnostic labs of PDRC.
Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory/bench work involving accessioning, serology bacteriology.
- Perform all assays according to SOPs and enter results into the current Labtrak LIM system.
- Follow positive assays with correct confirmatory testing.
- Perform all testing with precision and accuracy.
- Reproduce all testing with minimal variability when necessary.
Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities
- Interaction and communication with clients, including poultry industry representatives, poultry and small animal veterinarians, UGA staff and faculty.
- Communicate to and provide customer and internal support regarding updates to the Labtrak LIM system, especially with respect to managing data integrity. This system employs a client portal and may support digital data entry/collection in part by clients as well as PDRC staff in the future.
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage day to day lab activities including reporting, filing, case review, maintaining lab supplies, cleanliness, scheduling, lab organization and lab safety.
- Supervision of student workers and federal work study students.
- Training of student and temporary lab workers in co-ordination with lab management.
- Any other laboratory business-related duties or responsibilities as assigned by the lab managers.
