Our client, a long-standing and family-owned-and-operated leader in the building materials industry, is seeking a Polymer Process Engineer who has specialized in PVC chemistry to join their growing company!

Pay: $90k-$120k

Location: Whitfield County, GA

Summary:

This role is a blend of being in both the lab and the production floor to manage the technical and operational aspects of PVC materials and processes as well as covering core product engineering responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

Investigate and resolve daily production technical issues.

Analyze defective products and perform troubleshooting on formulas or processes.

Identify and optimize operation processes and production formulas for cost efficiency, sustainability, and productivity.

Utilize statistical tools and data analysis to draw meaningful conclusions and drive improvements.

Prepare technical reports documenting process changes, outcomes, and recommendations.

Assist with plant trials of R D scale-up projects, supporting the transition from laboratory to full production.

Serve as a technical liaison to procurement by evaluating vendor proposals, assessing ingredient suitability, and machine runnability.

Support efforts in recycling, upcycling, and green chemistry.

Manage/direct technical side of product development projects in accordance with Design for Six Sigma and Stage-Gate process management principles

Act as the bridge between manufacturing, product & marketing, and purchasing for new product development. Oversee technical timelines and ensure seamless execution from concept through full scale production.

Requirements:

B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or Material Science disciplines

5 years of experience in industrial processes related to PVC applications.

Hands-on experience in both laboratory and manufacturing environments, with evidence of process optimization and cost reduction initiatives.

Strong sense of urgency, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience leading meetings, facilitating cross-team collaboration, and reporting to leadership.

Strong project management skills with the proven ability to coordinate multi-departmental projects, drive timelines, and deliver successful product launches.

Preferred Qualifications are the following:

Experience working in flooring manufacturing

Bilingual in Chinese and English or Spanish and English are a significant advantage and will facilitate global communication.

Willingness to relocate, if necessary.
