The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer through patient care, research, and education. The UACC is the only NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the State of Arizona and one of only 53 in the nation.

The UACC Cancer Prevention and Control Program is seeking a talented postdoctoral trainee to join their team. The successful candidate will conduct innovative research examining cancer risk factors, outcomes, and disparities across under-resourced populations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Design and execute research projects investigating cancer epidemiology, prevention, and outcomes related to variation in the burden of disease in population subgroups.

Author manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and present findings at scientific conferences.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of clinicians, statisticians, and public health researchers.

Mentor graduate students and research assistants.

Contribute to grant writing and funding applications.

Lead grant submissions, such as supplements, pilot awards, and career development awards.

Participate in regular training and professional development opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficiency in statistical software (R, SAS, or STATA).

Excellence in scientific writing and communication.

Track record of peer-reviewed publications.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.

Data analysis, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications

MD or PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Nursing, Health Promotion, or related field.

Research experience and background in cancer research, epidemiological methods, and statistical analysis.

Must have first authored peer-reviewed original publications.

Prior experience in conducting data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in cancer prevention and/or implementation science research.

Experience with large datasets management and analysis.
