Department: Research Support Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics (or closely related field) to join our research team. The successful candidate will design and implement a producer focused survey to support production level decision making, conduct rigorous data analyses, and synthesize findings into actionable insights for larger specialty crop programming. This position requires strong analytical skills, experience with agricultural data, and the ability to translate complex results into clear reports that inform project objectives and stakeholder decisions. Key Responsibilities: Survey Design and Implementation: o Develop and refine survey instruments aimed at understanding production practices, constraints, and decision making processes at the farm level. o Coordinate pilot testing, sampling strategies, and data collection protocols in collaboration with project leaders. Data Analysis and Reporting: o Clean, manage, and analyze primary and secondary data using appropriate econometric and statistical methods. o Generate technical and non technical reports, policy briefs, and presentations that convey findings to academic, industry, and producer audiences. Research and Decision Support: o Apply production economics principles to interpret survey outcomes and identify opportunities for improved data to aid in decision making. o Provide analytical support to ongoing projects, contributing to modeling exercises, cost benefit analyses, and scenario planning. Project Support and Collaboration: o Work closely with faculty, graduate students, and project partners to ensure alignment with research objectives. o Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, extension materials, and other project outputs. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Agricultural Economics or a closely related field with training in applied econometrics and production economics or Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics plus three years of professional related experience. Demonstrated experience in survey design, data management, and statistical analysis (e.g., STATA, R, or similar). Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise reports for academic and practitioner audiences. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with agricultural production systems and onfarm decision making. Master's degree in Agricultural Economics Experience with stakeholder engagement and translating research outcomes into practical recommendations. Evidence of prior research dissemination (e.g., thesis, publications, extension reports).
