Chemist

You will serve as a Chemist in the Laboratory Quality and Accreditation Office (1561), Quality Performance Control Division (1560), Naval Shipyard Support Office (1500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:

• Experience applying current environmental chemistry and material test methods, standards and practices in quality control;
• Experience planning and executing laboratory audits and assessments including the review of quality control procedures, data and review of quality documents;
• Experience providing miscellaneous technical support for various environmental investigations.

A. Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.

B. Combination of education and experience with course work equivalent to a major as shown in A above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
