Vitalant is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I dedicated to making a positive difference. This position will support Transfusion Services by overseeing equipment, maintenance, and quality control processes across 28 laboratories. The role does not involve patient sample testing but will do bench testing for QC on reagents.

Schedule: Monday - Friday Days (no weekends or holidays)
Will travel to all locations as needed (Pittsburgh-Meadville-Wheeling)

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in this role, you will:
- Perform QC, maintenance, or schedule with vendors as needed, for lab equipment including refrigerators, freezers, centrifuges, pipettes, scales, water baths, platelet incubators, tube/heat sealers, sterile connection devices and alarm systems.
- Troubleshoot and coordinate repair or replacment of equipment, including vendor contact and follow up.
- Manage equipment qualification, requalification and documentation in the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Prioritize repair needs and escalate issues to ensure minimal operational downtime.
- Bench test reagents for QC.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biology, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent (must receive MLS certification within 6 months of eligibility)
- or
- Bachelors degree in approved Science (Biology, Chemistry, etc) and currently possess certification from an accredited agency as MT/MLS
- State licensure as required by regulations
Experience
- No experience needed with education/certification.
