EnviroScience, Inc. Part time Variable The Laboratory Technician at EnviroScience will be responsible for supporting environmental testing, research, and analysis within the company's laboratory. The role involves conducting various scientific tests, preparing samples, recording data, and assisting in the quality control processes to ensure accurate and reliable results. The technician will work closely with laboratory managers and other team members to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory functions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Sample Preparation Prepare environmental samples from the field for analysis in accordance with standard operating procedures. Receive, log, and label samples (water, soil, and chemical materials) according to laboratory protocols. Handle, label, and store samples accurately to prevent contamination or degradation. Testing & Analysis Conduct routine laboratory tests such as ecotoxicity testing, chemical analyses, or biological assays, adhering to all safety and quality protocols. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including pH meters, chlorine meter, DO meter, and analytical balances. Record data from laboratory tests and assist in interpreting the results for statistical reports. Data Recording & Documentation Accurately record test results, observations, and sample information in both physical and electronic formats. Assist in generating reports for internal review and external clients. Ensure data integrity through proper documentation and by following all lab protocols. Quality Control & Safety Conduct regular quality control checks on samples, reagents, and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental standards. Maintain laboratory cleanliness and ensure the proper disposal of reagents and sample materials. Adhere to safety guidelines and participate in safety training sessions. Collaborative Support Work in coordination with environmental scientists and other lab personnel to support ongoing projects. Participate in team meetings to discuss results, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical expertise. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field. Experience: None, entry-level Preferred Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field. Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in an environmental testing laboratory and certification in laboratory safety or environmental testing protocols. Desired Skills: Strong attention to detail, particularly in documenting data and following protocols. Familiarity with common laboratory procedures and equipment. Proficiency in data entry. Basic knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in the laboratory setting. Strong ability to follow protocols and maintain accurate records in a high-stakes environment. Ability to troubleshoot equipment or experimental issues with minimal supervision. Proficiency with laboratory software, data analysis tools, and a range of scientific instrumentation. Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with teams and document findings. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced laboratory environment, meeting deadlines for multiple projects. Ability to work collaboratively with management and lab personnel on diverse projects.
