The Samelson Lab is seeking a Staff Research Associate to support biochemical and structural biological projects, and will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research projects in the lab and to author publications. The position will support protein expression via bacterial and human cell cultures, protein purification, protein characterization, and data management.

The SRA will contribute to projects defining mechanisms of protein aggregation, combining cell biological experiments with in vitro assays. Additionally, the successful applicant will be involved in building the Samelson Lab, supporting implementing data management systems, ordering and installing new lab equipment, and managing lab reagent ordering.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and protocol is highly desirable
  • Skill in working with laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work in a team environment.
  • Previous experience working in laboratory setting.
  • Must be responsible and able to work independently without close supervision.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends.
  • Ability to manage large-scale datasets.
  • Organization of cell line inventories.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge to work with PCR, qRT-PCR, and CRISPR techniques.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and protocol is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge to work with stem cell culture and neural induction techniques.
  • BS in Biology or closely related field
