Design, establish and perform laboratory experiments to discover new pathways that cause autoimmune diseases. Develop laboratory discoveries into new disease-modifying drugs that improve the lives of patients with autoimmune diseases. Contribute to and lead drug discovery programs through design and execution of experiments to evaluate the efficacy and safety of therapies targeting autoimmune disease intervention. Reports directly to Lab Head, Immunology Research.

Main Responsibilities:

25% Direct drug discovery programs through design and execution of laboratory-based experiments.

  • Perform daily laboratory experiments, maintain data collection, and execute data analysis.

  • Prepare and provide oral and written communication of project updates and data packages to varied audiences.

  • Evaluate current scientific developments in the autoimmunity field and integrate this knowledge to improve current research activities and to propose and champion new targets for novel therapeutic programs.

25% Maintain laboratory space and equipment

  • Complete and maintain a detailed and timely electronic lab notebook in compliance with company laboratory guidelines

  • Order reagents and maintain stockroom, fridges and freezers

  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and appropriate handling and disposal of materials such as active drug substances and biohazardous material.

25% Direct innovation efforts with internal and external groups for new target identification.

  • Champion innovation efforts for new target identification and validation through internal work as well as collaboration with academic institutes or biotech/pharmaceutical companies.

  • Work across the research and development organization to test and advance innovative projects, hypotheses and methodologies; encourage curiosity and challenge the status quo to foster innovation.

25% Support multidisciplinary teams to determine mechanism of action of new drug targets.

  • Evaluate and analyze data

  • Communicate and present findings at team meetings

  • Stay current on latest scientific research and present at Journal Club

  • Support and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff

  • Enable productivity, execution with a sense of urgency, teamwork, accountability, scientific rigor and excellence.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant academic research or industrial experience.

  • Leading-edge knowledge of Checkpoint Immunology including co-inhibitory/-stimulatory pathway, T/B cell biology or innate immunity and relevant experience in the immunology/inflammation related disease areas.

  • The experience in target identification using genetic, transcriptomics or other bioinformatics analysis is desirable.

  • Recognized as an outstanding scientist and subject matter expert/innovator in the field. Outstanding track record of scientific publications, presentations, patents, projects as a leading contributor or senior author.

  • Excellent track record of project impact as a key contributor.

  • Applies technical, functional and industry knowledge to design and execute projects that shape the strategy.

  • Applying high- level scientific judgement in a variety of complex situations.

  • Flexibility to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines and ability to change in a dynamic, fast paced industry and work environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: impactful oral and written communication.

The salary range for this position is:

$100,500.00 - $145,166.66
