Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Microbiology Lab Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for accepting samples, preparing media, conducting microbiological and chemical analyses, and evaluating results of raw material and finished product samples. Your role will also include performing shelf life studies, as well as microbiological, chemical, and sensory analyses on various materials. You will be required to conduct a range of microbiological tests and create Certificates of Analysis. Collaboration with the Research and Development team is essential for developing shelf life studies and setting up new products.

Responsibilities

• Accept and prepare samples for analysis.
• Prepare media for microbiological testing.
• Conduct microbiological and chemical analyses on raw materials and finished products.
• Evaluate results and ensure accuracy in reporting.
• Perform shelf life studies and sensory analyses.
• Conduct microbiological testing including APC, Coliforms, E.coli, Yeasts & Mold, Sulphite Reducing Bacteria, Streptococcus, and Bacillus Cereus.
• Create Certificates of Analysis for tested samples.
• Collaborate with R&D for developing and setting up new products.

Essential Skills

• 1-3 years experience in a microbiology lab or similar environment.
• Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science field.
• Basic knowledge of biochemistry, organic, and inorganic chemistry.
• Understanding of basic microbiology using standard methods, rapid tests, and PCR.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical proficiency.
• Professional communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in an analytical food industry laboratory is preferred.
• Experience in a 3rd party testing lab or GMP lab is advantageous.
• Team player with strong organizational skills.

Work Environment

This position is based in a laboratory environment at a food manufacturing plant. Work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
