This position will report to the R & D Lab Manager in Wooster.** ****POSITION SUMMARY:** The Laboratory Technician is an important part the Research and Development Group at Seaman Corporation. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented individual capable of generating and analyzing data. The candidate will support research scientists and manufacturing to accelerate new product development and improve existing processes. The laboratory technician will conduct experiments designed by research scientists, analyze the data, and record results. They will work effectively in a team environment and be skilled at multitasking to deliver results in an efficient manner.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.**- Conduct laboratory testing in a safe and detail-oriented manner- Compiles test data and summarize results- Communicates and interacts well across the organization: R&D, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial- Produce samples to mimic manufacturing processes- Conduct testing using laboratory equipment (e.g. 2-Roll Mill, Brabender, DSC, FTIR, Mathis Oven)- Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment- Organize/analyze generated data and prepare recommendations based on project requirements- Able to learn and function using modern business tools such as: Microsoft/SharePoint, Oracle, Salesforce** ****REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**- 2-year associate degree or B.S. degree in a technical field (e.g. Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers, Materials, etc.).- Prior laboratory experience is preferred- Experience working directly with polymeric materials (thermoplastic or thermoset) preferred- Experience formulating, compounding, processing and/or testing is preferred- Successfully worked in a team environment** ****COMPETENCIES:** To perform the job successfully, an individual should be aligned with our company values and demonstrate the following competencies:Do What's RightSafety: Safety is our priority and everyone's responsibility.
