General Purpose of Position : This role is responsible for supporting the development and expansion of process modeling and material sciences capabilities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) : Duties/Responsibilities 1 Develop relationships between characterization data, material behaviors and process outcomes. 2 Develop digital tools and computational models to support the rapid development of high-quality drug-dosage forms. 3 Collect and organize data for use in predictive models across a variety of use cases, with a focus on accelerating product and process development. 4 Collaborate with scientists and engineers to identify data sources, understand data requirements, and develop solutions. 5 Characterization of input materials, process intermediates, and the structure of finished dosage units. 6 Provide material sciences support to customer departments - Product Development, Engineering Innovation, Quality and Manufacturing. 7 Communicate and present results internally at meetings and at external forums. 8 Develop and write standard operating procedures. 9 Author and review technical reports. Reporting to this Position : No direct reports Travel : Position may require 5-10% travel Work Shift : This position works days Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Demonstrated experience with predictive modeling and multivariate analysis, process modeling and simulation techniques Proficiency in data integration from sensors, controllers, and industrial systems, ensuring real-time process monitoring and model-based control Strong background in numerical methods, programming and mathematics Hands-on experience with particle and powder characterization techniques a plus (e.g. particle size, powder flow, cohesiveness, density, DVS, and automated microscopy) Knowledge of NIR and Raman spectroscopy is preferred Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to learn and adapt to demands in a fast-paced work environment Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a hands-on collaborative fashion with many different disciplines both inside and outside of the company Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, life sciences, data science, material science, or computer science. Advanced degree preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment : Ability to sit at desk for extended periods of time Extended viewing of computer screens and manual dexterity to operate office equipment Ability to perform minimal lifting (typically less than 25 pounds), walking, and physical exertion (bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing) specific to physical inventories and related work Good eyesight and critical thinking to read, create and interpret business documents and spreadsheets Ability to wear appropriate PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, lab coat, and respirator as required for exposure to laboratory and pharmaceutical operations GENERAL INFORMATION : The expectation for all employees is to support the company's mission, vision, culture and core values while adhering to all company policies.
