Sr. Scientist-Contract Candidates must be currently residing in San Diego, CA As a Senior Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the scientific strategy that drives our proprietary platform forward, specifically through the lens of aptamer-based biomarker discovery and quantification. This role is ideal for a creative and technically rigorous scientist who thrives in a cross-functional, fast-paced environments, and who is motivated by the opportunity to make foundational contributions to next-generation diagnostics. The Sr. Scientist will lead the design and execution of cutting-edge experiments, integrating proteomic and genomic technologies to discover, validate, and translate biomarkers across diverse biological matrices (e.g., DNA/RNA/Proteins/Exosomes). The Senior Scientist will interface closely with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure experimental outputs are not only scientifically robust but also product-relevant. Develop and implement advanced proteomic and aptamer-based assays aligned with the company's strategic priorities. Provide thought leadership in biomarker detection, assay scalability, and novel diagnostic approaches. Drive innovation in aptamer selection, characterization, and application for sensitive and specific biomarker detection, building toward differentiated clinical products. Independently design and execute experiments with high scientific rigor, providing actionable insights that inform both near-term development and long-range research strategy. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Marketing, and Product Development to translate scientific findings into robust, manufacturable solutions. Effectively synthesize and present complex data to both internal and external stakeholders, including technical deep-dives and strategic updates. Conduct SWOT analyses of emerging detection technologies and competitor platforms to ensure scientific differentiation and market relevance. Ensure laboratory activities are performed in compliance with safety guidelines and best practices. Serve as a mentor to other scientists/engineers and research associates within areas of expertise. Works under the supervision and direction of the Supervisor while on assignment. Consistently exhibit respect and build trust through openness, collaboration, and support of one another. Proactively contributes to and possesses a high level of understanding of product requirements, industry needs, and patent applications. Anticipates potential complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation. Has a reputation as an emerging technical expert and mentor with sustained performance and accomplishments. Demonstrates an understanding of Six-Sigma principles and good laboratory practices. Has the ability to present in both national and international conferences. Must be able to understand job duties and responsibilities, have the necessary skills/knowledge to complete assignment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams). Exceptional listening skills and strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate, punctual reports/information, as required, and thoroughly share information with others. Must be able to read, write and speak effectively. Capable of working thoughtfully under pressure and in a timely manner. Must be comfortable and capable of performing the job within the physical requirements and conditions necessary for the role.
