Location/Division Specific Information

ThermoFisher Manufacturing Sciences/Technical Operations is dedicated to advancing scientific research and innovation. We are currently seeking an experienced Scientist II to support lab automation and validation throughout our manufacturing processes.

Discover Impactful Work:

The successful candidate will work in cross-functional teams to drive excellence in process design, new product introduction, technology transfer, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis. This role involves executing both method and process validations, as well as continuous improvement efforts.

A day in the Life:
  • Provide technical support for the manufacture and testing of products.
  • Support continuous improvement, new product development, and method transfers.
  • Evaluate new and support existing instrumentation and lab automation throughout manufacturing.
  • Plan, schedule, and perform testing of processes and reagents using techniques such as conductivity, HPLC, HPIC, qPCR, dPCR, and NGS.
  • Participate in the design and execution of method and process validations.
  • Analyze data and communicate results in a team environment.
  • Draft manufacturing documentation such as production SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend and implement corrective actions for processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring the quality of project deliverables and documentation.
Keys to Success: Education
  • Bachelors degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or a related field.
Experience
  • 4+ years of industry experience (experience with FDA-regulated products preferred).
  • Strong bench skills and experimental design experience.
  • Experience with automated instrumentation and laboratory measurement devices such as liquid-handling robots, plate readers, and vial/tube handlers is strongly desired.
  • Experience with analytical method and process validation in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong systems/process orientation.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $66,000.00$99,000.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
