POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for supporting the integration of Research and Development and other departments at Genalyte. This will involve establishing novel procedures and processes, improving existing processes, and troubleshooting technical issues in various areas of the company. The primary focus of the position will be on improving assay development processes and translating those processes to scalable manufacturing processes. This will involve laboratory benchwork, writing documents, providing hands-on training, data analysis, and technical verbal collaboration with colleagues.

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
These may include but are not limited to:
- Acquire and demonstrate knowledge of each process and technology for which directly or indirectly responsible
- Perform various analytical tests involving biochemistry and chemistry techniques to optimize and develop protein purification, conjugation, and surface chemistry processes
- Draft and revise documents including SOP's, MRP's, specifications and in-process or release testing protocols
- Maintain records of laboratory activities in a professional, accurate manner as per QSR, GMP, and ISO safety guidelines
- Operate equipment and conduct tasks in a safe manner, adhering to established guidelines and applicable regulations
- Collaborate with supervisor and other departments to establish transfer timelines, objectives, milestones, and timelines for completion and report progress and results to Supervisor on a regular basis
- Operate at a consistent level of efficiency, producing high quality and accurate results
- May train other personnel with regard to technology transfer and process development of new and established production processes and methods
- Establish and maintain lines of communication to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information. Coordinate tasks and functions with other staff members in a cohesive and effective manner
- Participate in new product/process transfers and ensure required documentation is complete
- Exhibit professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the companys policies and practices
- Demonstrate a commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Genalyte's Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- BS in Chemistry or Biological Sciences, MS preferred
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in biotech, medical device, diagnostics or related field performing assay development, technology transfer, or process development
- Understanding of biochemical lab work (titrations, dilutions, purification, etc.)
- Familiarity with common analytical techniques such as spectrophotometry, HPLC,electrophoresis, etc.)
- Demonstrated skills in carrying out laboratory/research assignments with minimal guidance in an accurate, effective manner
- Experience with working in biochemistry/chemistry wet lab and techniques
- Able to carry out experiments following established guidelines and accurately summarize results
- Demonstrate problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Organized and detail oriented
- Intermediate knowledge statistical analysis and ability to use data processing software such as Excel
- Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all departments, including but not limited to, representatives from Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, Purchasing, Finance/Accounting, and R&D
