THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a temporary Research Associate I/II to join our Formulation Team at our Headquarters in San Diego, CA.
In this role, you will support scale-up, manufacturing, and characterization of lipid nanoparticle-based nucleic acid formulations to support our emerging research pipeline. Our ideal candidate will bring a willingness to learn and contribute to our formulation production and purification processes.
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Develop nucleic based formulations including complex nanoparticle formulations to support in vitro and in vivo studies for different programs.
- Conduct process development of mRNA-LNP drug product to enable successful production of large-scale drug product in internal and external manufacturing sites.
- Perform process-related investigations, identify root causes of process/manufacturing discrepancies, evaluate systems for trends and adverse findings, and implement appropriate steps to ensure process robustness.
- Perform formulation stability studies, contact material compatibility, in-use compatibility study, and accelerated stability studies.
- Maintain proper documentation of all experimental procedures and results, including batch records, protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other manufacturing related documentations.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations which summarize procedures, study results, and data interpretation as needed.
- Deliver high quality results in an accurate and a time sensitive manner
- Perform other activities as needed.
WHAT WE SEEK
- 2+ years of relevant formulation development experience in a life science, pharmaceutical company, or academic lab setting. Experience with nucleic acid-based and/or lipid nanoparticle formulation development is a major plus.
- Hands on experience working with liquid, frozen, and/or lyophilized dosage forms and related biophysical and chemical analytical methods such as dynamic light scattering.
- Experience with TFF (Tangential Flow Filtration), dead-end filtration, and/or fill/finish is a plus.
- Record experiments and results in laboratory notebooks (including all electronic systems) in accordance with lab procedures in sufficient detail that co-worker can repeat experiment and interpret results in a timely manner
- Attention to details, ability to think ahead and strong communication skills
- Self-motivated team player excels in a highly innovative, collaborative, and fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering or other related science field

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego $77,400.00 to $102,400.00.
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Arcturus Therapeutics is multi state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
