SUMMARY

Evaluates the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances for a polymer research facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • include the following. Maintenance, Data Interpretation and report writing for unknowns evaluated using GCMS, LCMS and/or FTIR.
  • Day to Day maintenance of equipment and method development.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Independently practices applying principles in discipline of competency.
  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designed. Works under general supervision.
  • Supports field assignments as required. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Phd degree or higher. Minimum of 10+ years' experience in the industry or in a related field or approval by the Program Director.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
