We are seeking a talented Regulatory & Standards Materials Engineer to join our Materials & Chemistry Network of Excellence Team within the Global Advanced Technology Organization. Our mission is to drive product innovation and differentiation through cutting-edge materials and chemistry technologies, leveraging both internal expertise and external partnerships to accelerate technology implementation in HVAC applications across Trane Technologies' strategic business units.

As a Regulatory & Standards Materials Engineer, you will advance and integrate cutting-edge materials and technologies across Trane Technologies' HVAC products, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will collaborate with global teams to develop and qualify new materials, contribute to centralized materials data management, and partner with external research groups to advance new materials. Additionally, you will create and maintain technology roadmaps to identify opportunities and ensure compliance ahead of regulatory deadlines.

Where is the work:

Due to the nature of this role, this position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.

What you will do:

  • Provide regulatory guidance and support throughout the product lifecycle in collaboration with advanced technology teams and global business units.
  • Develop and implement strategies for material standards to ensure regulatory compliance and stay updated on evolving industry regulations.
  • Create and enforce standard procedures and data management protocols for material data compliance.
  • Communicate with external suppliers regarding material composition and regulatory compliance and lead change management projects to meet upcoming compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and present reports, documentation, and updates on material compliance and regulatory changes to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple projects, addressing short-term engineering needs related to material compliance and promoting sustainable materials and practices.
  • Serve as the materials regulatory Subject Matter Expert (SME) during technical design reviews and participate in cross-functional meetings to support decision-making.
  • Travel up to 25%, including international travel, as required.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Material Science or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in materials engineering, regulatory affairs, or a related field within a regulated industry (e.g., HVAC, automotive, aerospace, medical devices).
  • Strong knowledge of global chemical regulations and standards (e.g., REACH, RoHS).
  • Proficiency with software tools for material data management and integration within MBE/MBSE environments (e.g., PLM, ERP systems).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities to resolve technical issues.
  • Strong program/project management skills with an understanding of stage gate product development processes.

Compensation:

Base Salary: $84,500 - $112,500
