Monday to Friday, with expectations to work on weekends and some holidays.

Job description and title:

A research technician position is available at Genomic Research Center (GRC) . We are looking for a highly motivated research technician to work independently and in collaboration with other scientists in projects involving human induced pluripotent stem cells reprogramming, cell differentiation, CRISPR editing , and high throughput functional screenings. The candidate will be involved in a highly enthusiastic, motivated, supportive, and diverse team. The candidate will be involved in multidisciplinary projects across different teams in GRC and is expected to work independently and support the team. The successful candidate will be involved in critically timed experiments and long differentiation protocols that require daily attention. The applicant is expected to:

a. Conduct routine wet lab experimental protocols and procedures.

b. Maintain cultured stem cells and stem cell-derived cells

c. Keep an accurate record of experimental setup, SOP protocols, and data quality control notes.

d. Maintain efficient and continuous communication with team members and managers.

e. Support team members with basic routine cell culture procedures including media preparation and reagents aliquoting.

Top 3-5 skills, experience or education required

1 . Significant cell culture expertise: maintenance, freezing, thawing, and passaging BS degree or masters degree in biological sciences, molecular biology, neuroscience, or biochemistry and significant 2-3 years tissue culture experience are a must. (Or a masters degree with at least one year of experience).

The applicant should already be trained in proper wet lab procedures and should be familiar with using basic lab equipment. Having strong communication, organizational and documentation skills is a must.

  1. Biochemistry such as: Western blot, Immunofluorescence, flow cytometry

  2. molecular biology such as: RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, RT-qPCR

4 Gene editing using CRISPR technology

5 lentivirus production and lentiviral transduction

Nice to have (but not required)

  • Having experience in stem reprogramming, maintenance and differentiation is highly preferred.
