Summary:

The Process Engineer will support the design, development, and improvement of chemical manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include conducting engineering calculations, creating process documentation, assisting in scaling up new processes, and supporting validation activities. The role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure process efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design of Process Flow Diagrams, Material Balances, and P&IDs.
  • Support process equipment sizing, including distillation systems.
  • Contribute to control descriptions and system documentation.
  • Analyze and present data through technical reports, spreadsheets, or presentations.
  • Assist in estimating labor and materials for assigned project tasks.
  • Participate in team and client meetings as required.
  • Support vendor coordination related to technical deliverables and scope.
  • Participate in the development of engineering standards and process documentation.
  • Conduct lab-scale reactions, purification, and solubility studies for new processes.
  • Assist in preparing technology transfer documents for production scale-up.
  • Support pilot-scale manufacturing and process validation activities.
  • Aid in executing and documenting IQ, OQ, and PQ activities.
  • Participate in field and manufacturing floor activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in chemical process or manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • Familiarity with chemical processing methods such as distillation and scale-up.
  • Basic understanding of process control systems (e.g., PID, PLC, instrumentation).
  • Strong documentation skills, including SOPs and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.

Language Skills:

  • English required, bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires walking, standing for prolonged periods, occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Non-temperature-controlled warehouse, non-temperature-controlled production floor, temperature-controlled office.
