Summary:

The Process Engineering Technician will support the development, improvement, and execution of chemical manufacturing processes under the direction of process engineers and other technical staff. Responsibilities include setting up and running experiments, collecting and recording process data, maintaining equipment, and assisting with process documentation. The role requires strong attention to detail, a hands-on approach, and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams to support process efficiency, safety, and compliance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers in creating and updating Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Material Balances, and P&IDs.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor lab-scale and pilot-scale equipment under supervision.
  • Conduct basic lab experiments, including reactions, purification steps, and solubility studies.
  • Record and summarize process data in spreadsheets and technical logs.
  • Support the preparation of process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and batch records.
  • Assist in equipment preparation, cleaning, and preventive maintenance.
  • Help estimate materials and labor needed for production trials.
  • Participate in plant trials, scale-up efforts, and manufacturing runs.
  • Aid in collecting data for IQ, OQ, and PQ validation activities.
  • Support safe operation by following safety procedures and reporting hazards.
  • Collaborate with vendors, technicians, and maintenance teams as needed.
  • Attend team meetings and provide technical support during investigations or troubleshooting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Associate degree in chemical technology, process technology, or related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing, process, or laboratory setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic chemical processing methods, such as mixing, distillation, and filtration.
  • Understanding of process instrumentation and control systems (PID/PLC exposure a plus).
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work safely in lab and production environments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional team and adapting to shifting priorities

Language Skills:

  • English required, bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires walking, standing for prolonged periods, occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Non-temperature-controlled warehouse, non-temperature-controlled production floor, temperature-controlled office.
