We are seeking an experienced Process Development Chemist to support the rapid growth of Advanced Packaging in Semiconductor Technologies. Our ACP R&D group, within Interconnect Solutions (ICS, E&I Business), delivers innovative materials and formulations to industry-leading semiconductor manufacturing partners worldwide.

The ideal candidate will lead the synthesis, purification, scale-up, and commercialization of specialized raw materialsincluding small organic molecules and polymer systems. This individual will coordinate effectively with global cross-functional teams, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of technical projects.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

Lead synthesis, purification, and formulation scale-up from laboratory-scale (100 mL20 L) to kilo-lab and pilot production.

Develop robust chemical processes for synthesizing small molecules and polymers suitable for manufacturing scale.

Collaborate extensively with R&D, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Quality groups to align technical objectives and scale-up plans.

Evaluate and determine appropriate internal or external manufacturing pathways, providing critical technical support for successful process transfers.

Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments involving synthesis, purification, filtration, ion exchange, and rigorous analytical characterization.

Implement statistical process control (SPC) and quality control (QC) measures to ensure batch-to-batch consistency and product reliability.

Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of essential scale-up principlesincluding heat transfer, mixing, and reactor designand their influence on reaction performance, product quality, and safety during the transition from laboratory-scale to kilo-lab and manufacturing settings.

Demonstrated ability and willingness to rapidly acquire knowledge about product applications, underlying technologies, industry requirements, customer specifications, and performance testing of final formulated products to ensure successful scale-up and commercialization.

Project & Team Leadership:

Act as a key project leader within the department for scale-up initiatives, clearly defining project scope, deliverables, milestones, and timelines.

Manage project execution by holding team members accountable, proactively managing risks, and transparently communicating project status to stakeholders.

Proactively manage workload by clearly identifying priorities, collaborating closely with management to align on prioritization, and adjusting as needed to effectively support broader business objectives.

Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, continuous learning, and collaboration that encourages innovative solutions and technology development.

Availability for participation in night and early morning meetings with a global team.

Coach and mentor junior scientists in project management, data analysis, documentation practices, and professional growth.

Communication & Documentation:

Clearly document technical results through comprehensive batch records, management-of-change (MOC) documents, and technology-transfer packages.

Author detailed technical reports, conduct failure mode analyses, create control plans, and proactively participate in reactive chemical process hazard analysis (PHA).

Effectively present complex scientific data and project updates to technical teams, senior management, and business leadership to influence strategic decisions.

Pursue opportunities for external publication and technical conference presentations.

Identify opportunities to secure intellectual property through trade secrets or patents; actively contribute to patent filings and IP landscape awareness.

Qualifications:

Required:

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or closely related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience focused on synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry, chemical process scale-up, and optimization.

Demonstrated expertise in analytical characterization techniques including GPC, NMR, LC/MS, HPLC, FTIR, and related methods.

Strong expertise in statistical data analysis and process improvement methodologies (JMP, Minitab, SPC, Design of Experiments).

Proven track record of successfully managing complex chemical scale-up projects through Phase/Gate or Stage/Gate processes.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.

The Pay range for this role is $123,480.00 - $194,040.00 Annual
