Position Summary:
Client is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist I to support oligonucleotide drug substance development. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in chemical synthesis and downstream processing, as well as a strong understanding of analytical techniques relevant to oligonucleotide production. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform chemical synthesis of oligonucleotides at scales up to 11 mmol
  • Conduct downstream processing activities including:
    • Preparative HPLC
    • Ultrafiltration
    • Annealing
    • Concentration
    • Lyophilization
  • Execute in-process analytical testing using:
    • Anion exchange HPLC (AX-HPLC)
    • Ion-pair reversed-phase HPLC (IPRP-HPLC)
    • LC-MS
    • UV-Vis spectroscopy
  • Provide technical support for process optimization in collaboration with contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs)
  • Maintain accurate and timely lab documentation in accordance with best practices
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on laboratory experience, preferably in an industrial or pharmaceutical setting
  • Strong understanding of key analytical techniques including HPLC, LC-MS, pH, osmolality, and conductivity measurements
  • Familiarity with oligonucleotide synthesis processes (phosphoramidite chemistry, chromatography, ultrafiltration) is highly desirable
  • Excellent record-keeping skills and adherence to good laboratory documentation practices (GLP/GMP)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Skill Set: Oligonucleotide synthesis and downstream processing, analytical instrumentation (HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis)
  • Must be proactive, reliable, and safety-conscious
  • Ability to contribute to a dynamic R&D environment with tight deadlines
