Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Lab Technician to develop operating procedures and perform tests for various water and wastewater treatment operations. The role involves conducting jar tests for chemical dosing optimization, bench and pilot scale evaluations, and testing for ion exchange resins, carbon adsorption, and filtration systems.
Responsibilities
Develop and perform tests for water and wastewater treatment operations.
Conduct jar tests to determine and optimize chemical dosing.
Evaluate bench and pilot scale operations.
Perform columns and batch testing for ion exchange resins, carbon adsorption, and filtration systems.
Collect and record data by measuring operating conditions such as pumping rates, pH, ORP, temperature, and pressure.
Operate and perform light maintenance on small-scale equipment like pumps, heaters, and mixers.
Prepare samples for testing and reagents for in-house lab analyses.
Conduct various laboratory analyses, including DO, color, temperature, ORP, alkalinity, hardness, TSS, TDS, COD, TOC, turbidity, and phosphorus/phosphate.
Pull samples for third-party laboratory analysis.
Maintain reagents, lab inventory, calibration records, and SDS documentation for lab chemicals.
Manage and communicate data effectively.
Ensure cleanliness of lab equipment and operating areas.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in laboratory, chemistry, and wet chemistry.
Ability to work precisely in solution making, measuring devices, data handling, and instrument operation.
Proficiency with standard laboratory instruments such as pH meters, TSS probes, HACH spectrophotometer, analytical balances, and volumetric glassware.
BS in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or related field.
Experience in titration, reverse osmosis, quality control, and quality assurance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn and grow in responsibility.
Detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
The work environment requires flexibility in shift and hours, with the potential for night or weekend work as demand increases.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
