This is a unique chance for an enthusiastic scientist to join our Bioseparations portfolio to help develop chromatographic and molecular tools for the analysis of oligonucleotide, nucleic acid, lipids and peptide-based medicines. New analytical tools are needed to characterize, quantify, and test these drug products, and we are looking for a standout, analytical scientist to help unlock the potential of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry to serve that need.
The scientist to fill this position will take on this exciting future with a strong support system to be able to accomplish new things in biomolecular separations, such as aiding the development of new ion pairing separations of mRNA, lipids or GLP analog peptides and the corresponding development of new LC column technologies. In this pursuit, this scientist will help our R&D teams collaborate with a global network of scientists and thereby help address problems that impact human health and society. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow professionally and scientifically, and it gives a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary environment with a diverse group of colleagues. In this dynamic role, the candidate will become an integral part of an interdisciplinary Research and Development team that supports hypothesis driven prototype evaluation, method development, and product commercialization.
Responsibilities- Assist in hypothesis-driven experimentation to test and better understand state-of-the-art reagents and LC column technologies and their role in the analysis of oligonucleotides, nucleic acids, lipids and peptide-based drugs
- Take a lead role on laboratory-based prototype testing and batch qualification procedures
- Execute test methods under general supervision, test prototypes, contribute to the preparation of reports and assisting with internal presentations to summarize scientific findings.
- Contribute to technical reports, QC procedures, literature and/or patent applications
- Help maintain laboratory instruments while creating and maintaining records of test-related activities
- Support products and customers during and after release
A successful candidate should have:
- MS degree with 2+ yrs or BS degree with 5+ yrs of experience in developing LC methods for nucleic acids, peptides, lipids and other biomolecules
- Experience in IP-RPLC and HILIC separations
- Experience in use of LC techniques for drug substance/product testing (desired)
- Strong chemical understanding of biomolecules and the interactions with chromatography columns
- Demonstration of major contributions to multiple scientific projects
- Creativity and a keen interest in science
- Strengths in interpersonal skills, collaborations, giving presentations, and writing
