Position Description:

The Zacharioudakis Lab in the James Tarpo Jr. and Margaret Tarpo Department of Chemistry at Purdue University is seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team. Our research is centered on understanding novel mechanisms of cell death and discovering small molecules that target mitochondrial adaptations to overcome therapeutic resistance in cancer. We integrate approaches from chemical biology, mitochondrial biology, cancer biology, and medicinal chemistry to uncover cancer-specific vulnerabilities and design therapeutics that restore apoptotic sensitivity.

Position Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Chemical Biology, or a related field
• Strong publication record
• Expertise in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
• CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing
• Advanced imaging techniques
• Proteomics
• Biochemical and enzymatic assays

Key Responsibilities and Learning Objectives

Lead and contribute to interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of mitochondrial biology, apoptosis, and cancer therapy

Gain hands-on experience in chemical probe development and drug discovery

Collaborate closely with internal team members and external partners to advance novel therapeutic strategies
