A leading biotech company is seeking a highly motivated Lab Technician to join their Biobanking team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow into an independent contributor. You will play a key role in processing, tracking, and managing biospecimens to support large-scale immunology and discovery projects.
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 1 year Contract
Pay: 20-24/hr
Key Responsibilities:
Accession, label, scan, and store biological samples; perform aliquoting and data reconciliation
Isolate PBMCs and serum from whole blood; cryopreserve as needed
Extract genomic DNA from whole blood samples
Maintain accurate records and update LIMS workflows; coordinate with IT for troubleshooting
Facilitate biospecimen transfers, including local deliveries and shipping logistics
Operate and maintain lab instruments and equipment
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, data integrity, and lab procedures
Communicate effectively with scientists, lab managers, and collaborators
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Biology + 1+ year of lab experience
OR
Associate degree in Biology + 3+ years of lab experience
OR
High school diploma or equivalent + 7+ years of relevant lab experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in biotech/pharma R D environments
Proficiency in Excel and LIMS/biospecimen databases
Experience with PBMC isolation, DNA extraction, and biobanking logistics
Work Environment:
On-site role in a lab environment (PPE required)
Requires standing, lifting (up to 25-50 lbs), and use of lab equipment
Potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards
May involve handling hazardous waste per regulatory guidelines
