Posting Summary

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate II for the Pharmacology, Physiology & Neuroscience Department within New Jersey Medical School.

Under direction of the Principal Investigator, the RA II will conduct NIH funded gastrointestinal research with a focus in mucosal immunology, gut microbiome, and nutritional science. Highly motivated individuals, with a passion for research and education are encouraged to apply. The program involves 85% effort on research and 15% effort on educational activities and career development. The RA II participates in the vibrant research community of Rutgers - New Jersey Medical School.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Designs, performs and analyzes experiments in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics or data science.
  • Participates in the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiology and instrumentation functions with the clinical and research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Under supervision, assists in the conducting of continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revision where necessary and proposing new procedures where required.
  • Remains up-to-date in relevant scientific literature.
  • Writes scientific papers for submission to journals.
  • Presents research work at national scientific conferences.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics, or related field is required.
  • Or a Master's Degree in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Evidence of prior experience and productivity in research and education must be demonstrated.
