Job Description
Tesla's in-house Lithium Refinery is located in the greater Corpus Christi area of Texas. This investment is critical to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and represents our efforts to aggressively increase the supply of battery-grade lithium hydroxide available in North America.
We are seeking a Lab Technician with experience working in an analytical lab. This candidate will be a core member of Quality team that is focused on the testing and evaluation of materials to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.
Focus on lithium materials and its inspection, testing and release from the QC lab
Comply with Safety Regulations and Policies, Maintain clean lab space via 5S principles
Plan, procure, organize, and run test equipment
Conduct chemical, Physical, and Electrochemical Characterization of the materials using different analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, Tap Density, PSA, XRD, IC
Document data in the quality database with the use of test procedures and process documents
Ensure high accuracy and precision on the reported data
Bring new ideas to increase productivity, reduce cost and minimize waste
Degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on and analytical (university or commercial) experience related to: metallurgy, inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, or materials science
Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience of using advanced analytical techniques common to materials characterization
Must be able to demonstrate meticulous organizational, data management and communication skills
Demonstrate ability to be autonomous, self-starter/initiative driven attitude
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
