Summary

This role will be responsible for supporting the analytical testing needs of the global business. This position, under the direction and supervision of both the Analytical Chemist Manager and the Analytical Chemist Supervisor, will conduct routine and non-routine testing in accordance with written SOPs. This role will be responsible for performing analytical tests in support of commercial production and key projects and will generate data that drives business decisions. This role has a responsibility for adhering to and/or complying with good laboratory practices (GLPs) and safety protocols in the corporate laboratory.

Responsibilities

Under the direction/supervision of the Analytical Chemist Manager and Analytical Chemist Supervisor, conduct testing of samples for total sugars, total solids/moisture, total fats, protein, water activity, pH, volatiles, color, etc. using appropriate instrumentation/technology (e.g., HPLC-RID, IC-PAD, FTIR, VIS-NIR, NMR spectroscopy, colorimetry, cryoscopy, e-Nose, etc.).
Ensure testing is performed in accordance to written protocols
Ensure that non-conforming or invalid data is responded to in accordance with protocols and management is informed without delay.
Ensure that results are reported to management with accuracy and precision for effective interpretation and reporting.
Assist management by drafting reports of the data in an impactful manner
Ensure that samples are received, processed, and results are reported to management in a timely manner for access by key stakeholders.
Send-out samples for external evaluation per protocol as directed by management
Maintain chemical and reagent inventory in the lab in accordance with the laboratory chemical safety plan
Maintain and operate lab testing functions, documented procedures, and training program in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and safety protocols.
Maintain the laboratory inventory control program.
Monitor the laboratory's preventative maintenance program for key equipment in the laboratory - including calibration and/or certification.
Assist in conducting testing in support of key projects/studies under the guidance of management.
Follow Chobani's safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Requirements

Minimum HS diploma, post-secondary education in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in laboratory setting (industry and/or academic).
Must be familiar with standard analytical methods for food component analysis (e.g., Kjeldahl, Mojonnier,spectroscopy, etc.).
Experience with HPLC and Ion chromatography; HPLC-RID, IC-PAD, and GC-MS preferred.
Skilled and knowledgeable in Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Document Control software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities/projects and deliver within deadlines
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Ability to understand, record and communicate technical data.
Ability to work independently or in a group with minimal supervision.
Ability to meet physical demands of job related to working in a wet and cold environment.
Ability to work standard non-production day shift or other work schedules as determined by business need, including weekends or overtime as required.
