Job Description
The Associate Scientist within the Molecular Biology Research team will join a tight-knit and cross-functional team of scientists who are tasked with developing and advancing Natera's oncology product portfolio. We are looking for a meticulous and dedicated candidate with hands-on laboratory experience in assay development that can work effectively in a fast-paced environment to ensure that the highest quality clinical assays are developed and launched for our patients. The right candidate participates in planning and executing laboratory research while maintaining broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles in molecular biology.
Primary Responsibilities:
Independently execute in-lab efforts both manually and using automated liquid handlers to develop non-invasive nucleic acid based diagnostic tests.
Assist with the design and planning of experiments and studies.
Perform basic data analysis (Excel, JMP etc.) and document results.
Communicate results across cross-functional teams including biologists and bioinformaticians.
Document results in reports and presentations.
Contribute insights towards experimental findings and troubleshoot laboratory processes and protocols.
Qualifications:
Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or closely related field.
PhD with a minimum of 2 years of experience or Masters with a minimum of 5 years experience in assay development for the life science industry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive hands-on experience with nucleic acid techniques (DNA manipulation, PCR, qPCR, DNA quantitation/analysis, hybrid capture).
Expertise in Next Generation Sequencing and non-invasive assay development is highly desirable.
Experience developing or executing assays using automated liquid handlers is preferred.
Must have experience performing data analysis with Excel or similar software. Working knowledge of JMP and basic statistical programming is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Skilled at cross-functional communication and coordination.
