EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Chemistry/IH) in Pineville, NC. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze samples to quantitatively measure chemical and physical properties in a variety of matrices: air, dust, soil, solid, and/or waterAnalytical and sample preparation methods including: EPA NIOSH and OSHA methods of analysis using, HPLC, IC, FTIR, ICP-AES, ICP-MS and/or XRD Analytical InstrumentationPerform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, performance of volumetric measurements, and utilization of analytical balancesFollow SOP's quality control procedures, and data validation established for each analytical methodKnowledge of NELAC and ISO 17025 quality systemsPerform calculations, and conversions, and compile the data obtainedPrepare reagents, standards, sample desorption and extractionsLaboratory work environment requires care when handling acids, solvents, and other reagents and sample waste disposal Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as neededPerform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manualAdministrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phonesOther responsibilities as deemed necessary by the managerRequirements:Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related science is requiredAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship0 to 1 years' experience working in a lab setting with HPLC, IC, FTIR, ICP-AES, ICP-MS and/or XRD is a plus but not required Proficient in MS office Epxerience with Promium Element LIMS is a plus Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time for analysis and data reviewAbility to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitudeEffective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistanceAvailable Shift:Position is full-time Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Pineville, NC are encouraged to applyEMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending accountTo find out more about EMSL Analytical, Inc. please visit our website at: www.emsl.com EOE including Veterans and Disabled
