As a Senior Product Development Chemist for Advanced Materials and Transportation division, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Joining a cross-functional team to develop and commercialize new products for global customers.
  • Understanding customer and market needs, focusing on regulatory standards and quality metrics.
  • Collaborating with research teams to innovate new product capabilities for the transportation market.
  • Leading and supporting product improvement projects using Agile methodologies to drive business growth.
  • Working on high-impact teams across multiple product families.
  • Protecting 3M intellectual property by filing new patent applications.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:

  • PhD degree in a chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, polymer science or related fields.
  • Experience in laboratory research in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Fluent in English and German

Additional knowledge / nice-to-have skills / preferred qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Substantial product development experience in structural adhesive or coating technologies.
  • Proven track record of innovating within the automotive industry.
  • Experience either direct or through collaborations utilizing modeling and simulation tools to understand and / or predict polymeric material properties.
  • Self-motivation to identify and execute on new technology development.
  • Results driven and self-motivated, with a growth mindset.
  • Experience developing intellectual property portfolios in collaboration with legal and other technical experts.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with customers in technical areas and maintain productive networks.

  • Travel: may include up to 10% in Neuss
  • Full time
