Summary
Reporting to the Head Laboratory Technologist, the Laboratory Technician I involves handling biological samples, operating lab equipment, and contributing to cutting-edge research that shapes the future of patient therapy.
Responsibilities
To perform activities ordered by the section head or head laboratory technologist (e.g. worklists).
Ensures the sample material is correctly handled.
Stores samples/subsamples in the correct storage location.
Operates equipment correctly to obtain the correct analysis.
Gives input of reagent stock status, functioning of equipment to the head laboratory technologist.
Reports results, observations as required.
Uses the LIMS system as and when appropriate.
Ensures the working environment is clean and organized at all times.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university in the Biological Sciences.
Qualifications
Lab experience a plus, but not required
Experience working with MS Office
Precise and detail-oriented
Team player
Ability to work independently
Ability to write and speak fluently in English
Working Conditions
Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Must accept to perform activities in a Biosafety Level (BSL) 1 or 2 laboratory where biological samples may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous viruses such as HIV, HCV, or CMV.
