Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Job Description
The Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in ensuring product accuracy, safety, and compliance across the supply chain. In this hands-on position, you will perform manual 3-way matching on inbound and outbound orders, verify documentation, and maintain precise records using digital tools. You will act as a key checkpoint for quality, helping to identify discrepancies, prevent errors, and support a high standard of food safety and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual 3-way matching on inbound orders by verifying physical inventory, system records, and accompanying paperwork.
- Conduct manual 3-way matching on outbound shipments to ensure documentation, quantities, and products align with requirements.
- Review and verify bills of lading, labels, and lot codes for accuracy and completeness.
- Use tablets and computers to record data, update systems, and maintain accurate documentation of quality control activities.
- Identify discrepancies in inventory, documentation, or shipments and escalate issues promptly to the appropriate internal contacts.
- Stop or hold shipments when necessary to prevent inaccurate or non-compliant products from leaving the facility.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with internal teams to resolve problems quickly and accurately.
- Apply quality assurance and quality control principles, including inspection and document control, to maintain high standards.
- Support food safety and regulatory compliance by following established procedures related to GMP, HACCP, and QC testing.
- Contribute to the accuracy and integrity of shipping and receiving processes through careful verification and inspection.
Essential Skills
- Basic understanding of 3-way matching in a quality control environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform accurate counting and verification.
- Solid math skills to support counting, reconciliation, and verification tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills of lading, labels, and lot codes.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and other digital tools for data entry and record keeping.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to speak up when something appears incorrect.
- Bachelor's degree in any scientific field or technical certification OR at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Strong computer skills for data entry, documentation, and system updates.
- Previous quality control experience is preferred but not required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree, ideally in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Prior experience in food manufacturing, food quality, or food safety environments.
- Experience with quality assurance and quality control processes, including inspection and document control.
- Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points).
- Experience with QC testing and food safety protocols.
- Shipping and receiving operations within a manufacturing or distribution setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work with detail-oriented tasks over extended periods.
- Interest in building a long-term career in a stable, values-driven organization.
Work Environment
The role operates in a mix of cold and ambient environments, and you will move in and out of temperature-controlled areas throughout the day. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, either 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. You will regularly use tablets, computers, and Microsoft Office applications to document quality control activities and maintain accurate records. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
