Metallurgical Engineer

Salary Range: $46.16 - $69.24 per hour (Base Pay)

Job Description:

System One is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metallurgical Engineer to support a 6 month contract assignment, onsite in Chattanooga, TN. In this role, you will perform comprehensive metallurgical engineering analyses of materials, utilizing your expertise in chemical, metallographic, and mechanical testing, as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct laboratory testing and analysis of materials, applying both specialized technical knowledge and a broad understanding of metallurgical engineering principles.
• Develop, modify, and implement procedures to enhance laboratory analysis, making substantive judgments based on your experience.
• Ensure ongoing maintenance and adherence to applicable Quality Assurance (QA) program requirements and procedures, particularly in support of nuclear power plant testing and evaluations.
• Prepare and oversee the development of technical reports for completed analyses, including supervising reports generated by junior staff.
• Apply relevant practices and specifications as outlined in ASTM, AME, ANSI, and ASME standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is highly preferred.
• Laboratory experience is desirable.
• Familiarity with quality assurance programs is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
